Life often comes down to a series of special moments. That first date. Graduation Day. The wedding. The birth of a baby. At Leland’s Cabins, the big day for us is always when one of our log cabins is delivered to a customer.

For Dan and Kay Jupe, Leland’s customers we featured in a previous post about their experience ordering and designing the log cabin of their dreams, Delivery Day was an exciting moment. The new home they’d created with our Leland’s design team was on its way to their property.

The Lone Star floor plan, Texas, Leland's Cabins, tiny home

“One of these days, this cabin is going to be delivered,” Dan reminded himself after he and Kay had met with their design team and finalized their plans. They had agreed on the floor plan for one cabin, The Lone Star, but they were really drawn to a particular design feature of another—Settlement Harbor’s row of windows lining the wall above the cabin’s front door that would let in even more natural light to their living space. So the Jupes had decided to custom build their cabin, combining the best from both cabins.

Before the Leland’s trucks could pull up with the final product, the Jupes had work to do to prepare for the log-cabin setup. They needed to clear a route to where the cabin would be set, as well as remove brush and trees from the perimeter of the cement slab where the cabin would be laid.

The Leland’s delivery trucks are big, and the finished cabin can be even bigger. So customers like the Jupes had to make sure the drive was wide enough to accommodate the vehicles and cabin, and that the property all around the foundation was leveled and open.

All of this takes time, but not too much: Construction of a Leland’s cabin typically takes six to eight weeks after customers have locked in on their floor plans and interior and exterior finishes with the design team experts.

Once you’ve determined how wide your entrance area needs to be, you can envision the cabin’s arrival. Like the Jupes, you probably already have your site picked out. However, if you do not, one of our experts can recommend the best foundation for your location and your cabin.

When considering where to place your cabin, keep in mind that flat, even ground will require less preparation to make the lot level. And look for good drainage as well. You want to make sure water drains naturally from the site and won’t pool around the foundation.

We also recommend visiting your site before the log-cabin setup begins, so you don’t have to face last-minute surprises like uncovering a fire-ant mound or discovering your neighbors are a family of skunks.

And like the Jupes, look for the most beautiful spot you can find. When delivery day came for them, their custom-built cabin was set exactly where they wanted it on their property.

The happily-ever-after part was just beginning.

The Jupes aren’t the only customers who’ve gone through the process of turning their log–cabin dreams into a reality. Delivery Day is celebrated all over the state, and sometimes sooner than expected!

“They delivered the building one day earlier than planned, despite the rain, mud, and cold,” said Whit Michelle. “This was far from the experience my family had with another local company. We learned a lesson: If you want an excellent product delivered on time by upstanding and reliable people, Leland’s is the company with which you want to do business.”

“We loved working with everyone at Leland’s Cabins,” reported Gary and Gale Garrett. “Steven worked with us to design exactly the cabin we wanted, Karl and Sam made sure things were done correctly, and Mel put the cabin right where we wanted.”

And from Connie Phillips, “For me, there is no comparison between Leland’s and other cabins. The more time I spend in our home, the more I love it. In the 40 mph winds yesterday, I could hardly hear them. We have received our first electric bill, and I was amazed with the difference. Our bill was about 1/3 of what I anticipated it to be, and we ran the air conditioners all month. I am so pleased with our cabin.”

We’re proud of our record of service as one of the best log–cabin builders in Texas. Stop by one of our log-cabin showrooms throughout the state, or come to our supercenter in Grandview, home of the biggest cabin showroom in Texas. We’d be happy to put your own Delivery Day on the calendar too.
